THE IRON CHEF

Congratulations to Iron Chef Judy Joo for your new TV series.
It was great working on your Fab Tribeca loft in the past.
Hope we get to work together again in future.

THE ARTIST

Brice Marden, I enjoyed working on the design of your NYC studio. I feel privileged to watch you work and see your paintings evolve through every visit.

THE GALLERIA, 115 EAST 57TH STREET

Finally gave into temptation and moved uptown to 57th Street between Madison and Lexington Avenue. This enabled us to be close to the Designers and Decorators Building and the Architects and Designers Building. Most of our work now is centered around Central Park and super lux homes in Asia.

WE OPEN OUR SINGAPORE BRANCH IN THE RED DOT TRAFFIC BUILDING

YES, THAT WAS THE VIEW FROM OUR OFFICE!

55 WASHINGTON STREET

Happy to be in Dumbo. Brooklyn. Its like Gansevoort Street 10 years ago.
Happy times, giving our full energy and effort to the construction of the first Vilcek Foundation Headquarters on East 73rd Street. Also marked our involvement with super luxurious homes in the Far East.

131 VARICK STREET, SUITE 1033, NY NY 10013

I did not know this was such a good address until after we left! We wanted to be close to Tribeca where we have become specialists in the design of high-end lofts. The neighborhood is Soho West and we had the top corner office overlooking the West Village and The Trump Soho Hotel across the street.

59 GANSEVOORT STREET

In 2000 we moved next to the legendary Florent Restaurant in the Meat Packing District. Gansevoort Street is a short street where the fictitious Samantha of "Sex and the City" fame lived. It was fun to watch Chris Meloni from "Law and Order" and Sarah Jessica Parker from "SATC" film outside my window.  It also was an exciting time for us professionally working on Brice Marden's Duplex loft in the West Village and Tan Dun's townhouse in Chelsea. I still remember being mistaken for the renowned composer and being congratulated for winning the Academy Award for the movie, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".  It was a bitter sweet time. I remember stepping out for lunch after 9/11 and not being able to get back into my office after lunch.

260 FIFTH AVENUE

Our next location was in the penthouse of 260 Fifth Avenue where my office overlooked the Empire State Building. This was a great address for not only was it on Fifth Avenue but we shared the building with Francis Ford Coppola and Pablo Picasso's mistress. This was a busy time for us and our corporate phase. We collaborated with Eco Id in Singapore for the the design of Reebok retail stores in the US. Furthermore we were involved in designing and upgrading many of the Loews Hotels in the US.

611 BROADWAY

Our first office was in the Mckim, Mead and White designed Cable Building in Soho.

INTRODUCTION

2014 is the 20th anniversary of Tow Studios, an architecture and interior design practice I founded in New York City.  I think now is a good time to be introspective of our past projects, our history and of course current and upcoming projects. This blog is about my personal and professional experiences in the world of design through the years.
